Description

This high school level semester-long course uses a familiar business to walk students through the basics of accounting and take the fear out of what sometimes seems like a hard and scary topic. The course book is written to look like it’s simple enough for a child–and our instructor makes it feel that way!

Parents and students will be participating in an online portal to keep on top of assignments and progress.

Introduction to Accounting

In-person class Fridays, 10:30-11:55am with an approximately additional 2-3 hours of independent work to be done between classes.

Registration is for the Spring 2026 semester

Required Materials
 Students will need:

Time Required Outside of Class and Transcriptable Time
Amount of time will depend on your student’s speed/fluency with writing, reading or the topic at hand and the content of the week. Families should allocate approximately 2-3 hours/week (depending on student’s work speed with regards to writing) of individual work in preparation for live class.  This course has 1 pre-scheduled Asynchronous Learning day on Feb. 27, 2026; but does not have additional assigned work during Thanksgiving Week, Winter Break or Spring Break.

Combined with our live class time, this is a total of 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 hours/week for a course total of 56-72 hours.  This equates to one half credit of elective study in Career & Technical Education using the Carnegie unit methodology.

What Does Class Time Look Like?
Live class time will assume students have done their individual work as we will be using that to participate in group discussion, collaboration and group projects during our time together.

Parent Considerations
This is a teen-oriented course that will have exercises and activities in addition to their workbook learning.  All math is extremely basic at this level, but the calculator helps ensure accuracy.
